“BALLYBOEBRADDY

Originally Baile na bó bradaí [baɪljə nə boʊ brɑ:di:] in the older Irish language, or "town of the rogue cow" anglice.

The name of a townland and parish in the barony of Castleclusterdonk, County Amsky located halfway between Hangnailstown and Lough Mucksavage. May refer to the supposed odd behaviour of local cattle induced by the hallucinogenic mushroom Psilocybe Hiberniensis once said to flourish in the region's cow sh*t. “

In May of 2012, whilst enjoying a bracing round of 'cerevisia localis' at the neighborhood bier garden, I entered into a long and fruitful discussion of the history of my original blog project, "Dystopia Diaries" with a couple of friends.

One pointed out, quite rightly, that despite that project's considerable deserts, it had veered somewhat from its originally intended tragectory of straightforward investigation into political economy. Recent editions seemed to bear as much or more upon the deeper philosophical and psychological issues surrounding polemical strategy in general.

Eventually we concluded that some additional project might be in order to re-emphasize the rigorous balance between the clear statement of relatively mundane, objective facts to which "Dystopia Diaries" is committed, and the exploration of profoundly subjective issues central to the articulation and interpretation of any rhetoric.

Hence, the establishment of a new blog, "Ballyboebraddy". By launching my more esoteric or literary efforts from "Ballyboebraddy", I hope to allow a more effective exploration of both objective and subjective realities. Just as Euclid recognized that in plane geometry the definition of a straight line requires two separate points, so too we can only hope to establish a clear path to Truth by respecting the fundamentally distinct, yet critically interdependant aspects of fact and opinion.
